Guidelines for Using Ultra-Light Air Dry Clay

Important Notes:

1. Clean Hands and Workspace
   - Wash your hands before handling the clay to avoid dirt affecting its color.
   - Ensure the workspace is clean to prevent contamination.
   - When working with dark colors like black or brown, wash your hands afterward to prevent transferring color to lighter clays.

2. Moisture Management
   - Ultra-light clay contains water to keep it pliable. Knead it repeatedly to manage moisture, ensuring it’s soft and workable but not overly dry to avoid cracks.

3. Color Mixing
   - Clay colors can be blended to create new shades:
     - Red + Blue = Green
     - Blue + Red = Purple
     - Red + Green = Yellow
   - Experiment with gradients and custom blends for unique effects.

4. Avoid Unintended Mixing
   - Once clays adhere to each other, colors will mix. Place each piece carefully to avoid unwanted blending.

5. Drying Time
   - Allow clay to dry completely for 24 hours before handling or applying pressure to avoid deformation.

Basic Techniques for Using Ultra-Light Clay:

1. Materials Preparation
   - Gather light clay, cutting tools, plastic bags or cling film (to retain moisture), pigments, and other tools.

2. Softening
   - Expose clay to air briefly to firm it slightly, or knead it with your hands. For extra softness, microwave the clay for a few seconds.

3. Cutting
   - Shape the clay using cutting tools. Adjust cuts as needed with straight or curved blades.

4. Molding
   - Shape the clay with your hands or tools, following your design ideas.

5. Splicing
   - Combine small clay pieces using a touch of water or glue. Ensure the bonding area is secure.

6. Smoothing
   - Use fingers or smoothing tools to refine the surface for a polished look.

7. Carving
   - Add details with carving tools to enhance the design.

8. Drying
   - Place the finished piece in a well-ventilated area to dry. Drying time depends on the size and thickness of the project.

9. Colouring
   - Once the clay is fully dry, apply pigments or paints to enhance the design.

Tips for Success:
- Adjust methods to suit your creative needs.
- Practice regularly to refine your techniques and become confident in handling ultra-light clay.

With consistent practice, you’ll master the art of creating beautiful and unique clay designs!
